Beginner Mahjong (Session 102) at Frequency Wine Company

FOR BEGINNER PLAYERS WITH AT LEAST ONE MAHJONG CLASS COMPLETED.
Already know the tiles? Completed Session 101? Session 102 is for you.
This session moves beyond the basics and into the rhythm of the game. We'll briefly review tile recognition and game setup before diving deeper into the Charleston, strategic tile passing, and navigating the National Mah Jongg League card. You'll begin recognizing patterns, making more independent decisions, and playing guided games with greater confidence. The goal isn't perfection—it's becoming comfortable with the pace, flow, and decision-making that make Mahjong so enjoyable.
Fabulous local wines and cheese boards will be available for purchase through SB Wine Collective and additional food available through Lucky Penny.

Mini & Me Mahj
Join us for a special family Mahjong experience designed for both parents and children.
While parents enjoy a relaxed morning of open play Mahjong, children will participate in a fun, beginner-friendly introduction to the game with Riviera Mahj Society instructors. Using kid-friendly teaching materials and simplified beginner resources, children will learn tile recognition, basic gameplay, and Mahjong etiquette through hands-on activities and guided play.
Whether you're already a Mahjong enthusiast or simply looking for a unique weekend activity to enjoy together, Mini & Me Mahj is a wonderful way to introduce the next generation to the game while giving parents the opportunity to connect with fellow players.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Location: Private residence in Santa Barbara. The address will be provided to registered guests by email within 48 hours of the event.
Please Note
Recommended for children ages 8–14.
Each child must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian.
No prior Mahjong experience is required for children.
Parent Open Play is intended for players with a foundational understanding of American Mahjong. Instruction will not be provided for parent registrants. However, parents are of course welcome to follow along with the children’s instruction
Space is limited to maintain a comfortable learning environment.

Join Riviera Mahj Society at SB Wine Collective for open play mahjong.
Designed for those with a foundational understanding of the game, this session offers guided play in a relaxed, social setting. An iInstructor will be available throughout the evening to assist with gameplay, answer questions, and provide light guidance. All gameplay equipment is provided. You are encouraged to bring your own NMJL card but we will have extras available if needed.
